I’m attending day 2 of judging at the 2009 Sydney Royal Wine Show at the Sydney Showground. As always it’s a massive affair with hundreds of wines to be sniffed, swirled, tasted and finally sorted to ultimately find the Gold Trophy winning bot.
Check out the photos below and stay tuned for an episode of The Oz Wine Show with interviews from some of the judges.

I’m currently at the openning of a fantastic new wine bar in the Rocks in Sydney called Wine Odyssey. Picked below but all I can say is “Finally!”

Project Vino is making an appearance at WineFocus right now. Actually in the middle of a Chardonnay tasting.
Mainly Margaret River and SA wineries on show and pick of the bunch so far is Carlei from Upper Beaconsfield in Victoria – fantastic flavours in their whites.

A quick post to introduce the Project Vino blog, website and twitter world.
Project Vino is a website aimed at enhancing the vinous experiences of wine lovers in Australia and New Zealand. It’s a safe and secure place to manage your wine world from your cellar, tasting notes, friends and a wishlist of wines you can’t wait to try. It’s safe, secure and public when you want it to be. Share the wines you’ve drunk with your friends and see what they’re drinking. Project Vino’s also really handy to find information on specific wines, wineries and regions of Australia and New Zealand. There’s a tonne of information such as maps, links, regional context and much more.
This blog will be a conduit for information about Project Vino (news, updates, new features, upcoming events, event recaps, etc). Subscibe to the feed or come back regularly to stay up to date. We also encourage you to leave comments and thoughts in the comments area of each post (or alternately email hugo@projectvino.com.au). This is the new web so get involved.
Twitter is another way to stay up to date with Project Vino happennings. It’s more frequent and a whole lot less grammatically correct. Add @projectvino to your Twitter feed to get updates.
That’s all for now, stay tuned for recaps of our events so far and talk of the great new features that have just been released at ProjectVino.com.au
Cheers, Hugo
